Health system projects can be complicated due the variation in business models throughout the industry. This project came about like many others, past project managers were failing to meet the deadline so CIO Plus was contacted to salvage what was left of the messy software implementation. At this stage, morale was low and trust in another project manager was going to be difficult to gain.


The steps taken in turning this project area were



  1. Understanding the client’s needs and find out why several project managers failed.

  2. Gather knowledge of health business system requirements.

  3. Repair linkages between project parties

  4. Re-draft a new plan to achieve the tight deadline

  5. Communicate with all parties from users to the board of directors to inform them of the process and to find out their concerns.

  6. Hold information sessions for staff, and have key members educated in the software to further assist staff after the project has concluded. 

  7. Upon completion, a report detailing ongoing required actions was presented to the steering committee.

A project of this size would normally take 12 months to complete. Instead, CIO Plus worked around the clock to successfully implement this project in just 4 months. As always, the project was delivered within the specified time frame.
